안녕하십니까? 꽃샘추위가 원래의 겨울추위보다 더 매섭게 느껴지는 계절입니다. 요즈음 세계뉴스를 들어보거나 주위를 둘러보면 "안녕하십니까?"라는 인사가 빈 말일 수 없다는 생각이 많이 듭니다. 이런 표현을 어디서 보았습니다. "Count your blessings, not your troubles", "How blessed I am just to be alive, peaceful and healthy today". "그저 현존하는 것만에 대하여도 감사하는 마음으로" 아침 저녁 외워볼 만한 글귀라고 생각됩니다. TGIT!(Thank God It's Today!) 2007. 3. 재동 헌법재판소에서 정해남 올림.

미국대법관 Antonin Scalia의 The Catholic University of America 강연 중에서
The whole purpose of the constitution is to prevent a future society from doing what it wants to do. That's the whole purpose. To change, to evolve, you don't need a constitution, all you need is a legislature and a ballot box. Things will change as fast as you want. You want to create new rights, destroy old ones? That's all you need. The only reason you need a constitution is because some things you don't want the majority to be able to change. That's my most important function as a judge in this system. I have to tell the majority to take a hike. |
